PET CREMATION · AQUAMATION GUIDE

A farewell by fire,
a return through water

For pet funeral and crematorium operators, the two methods differ in process, energy source, automation and family experience. NP40 offers a processing time comparable to cremation while shifting from gas combustion to an electrically powered, automated process.

TIME & EXPERIENCE

Processing time
comparable to cremation

A process of up to 90 minutes can increase daily treatment capacity and allow a funeral to be completed on the same day.

COST & CARBON

Comparing energy cost
and carbon emissions

Energy cost is compared for a 40 kg case and carbon emissions for a separate 20 kg case, each on a like-for-like basis. Figures are Korean reference values.

Questions for pet funeral
business operators

Here are the main differences to consider when planning a pet funeral or crematorium business.

What is pet aquamation?

Pet aquamation, also called alkaline hydrolysis or water cremation, uses water, an alkaline solution, heat and pressure to accelerate the breakdown of organic tissue. Bone minerals are collected afterward.

How does aquamation differ from cremation?

Cremation uses LNG combustion followed by cooling. NP40 aquamation uses water and electricity with heat, pressure and automated operation. The process, energy source and operating model differ.

What should an operator compare?

Compare processing time, daily capacity, energy cost, degree of automation, carbon emissions and whether families can complete the farewell on the same day.
